Dan is a native Californian who grew up in the San Fernando valley. Dan spent several years living and attending school in England before he returned to his California roots where he finished high school and complete his degree at UCLA (’96). This is when Dan first worked as a law clerk for Steven Brown, learning the basics of Federal Employee Compensation. Dan attended and graduated from Loyola Law School and passed the California State Bar.
Dan then spent several years working in the entertainment field, doing music licensing, and business development. He returned to work for Steven Brown in 2004 as an attorney and has never looked back. Dan was appointed as the President of the FECA Law and Advocacy Group, which included almost every private practice Federal Workers Compensation attorney, before it merged with the Workers Injury Law and Advocacy Group (WILG). Dan has had the honor of being the Chair or Co-Chair of the FECA Section of WILG ever since. In that capacity, Dan works with the National Office at OWCP, advocating to help make the FECA process better for claimants, representatives and OWCP staff.
Dan has presented to multiple groups including WILG, the National Employment Lawyer’s Association (NELA), the LRP Media Group, Workers Comp Central, and others on topics including: Coordinating Remedies between FECA, FERS/CSRS Disability, EEOC and MSPB; Filing and Winning Claims for Psychological Conditions Under FECA; ECAB Year in Review (2015-present).
Dan lives in Southern California with his wife and twin girls. He is an avid endurance racer having completed over 35 Spartan Races, 2 Tough Mudders and many running trail and road races that involve less mud and carrying heavy objects.
